امتدت الأيام التى عشتها فى السودان إلى ستة أعوام متصلة بدءاً من أواخر عام 1995م ولقد شهدت فى الخرطون مولد جمهورية السودان المستقبل فى أول يناير عام 1956م. وأتيحت لى بحكم عملى تفى تلك الأثناء الاختلاط بالإخوة السودانيين فى شمال الودان وشرقه وغربه وفى ولاية بحر الغزال. وامتدت علاقتى بأهل السودان بعد عودتى لمصر متواصلة لم تنقطع. وهذا الكتاب حصيلة معايشة لأهل السودان وحصيلة مشاهدات في أنحائه وحصيلة قراءات عن الماضى وعن الحاضر وتوقعات المستقبل لخير السودان ومصر. ويخاطب هذا الكتاب جمهرة المثقفين من امصريين لتعريفهم بحقيقة الروابط السودانية المصرية، ليزدادوا إيماناً بان مستقبل البلدين يحتم التعاون والرؤية المشتركة.
