إذا نظرنا إلى الصحاري الإفريقية فإن لسان حالها يحدثنا بانها تتطلع إلى ذلك اليوم في المستقبل البعيد حين تكتظ الصحاري بغابات من المراوح الهوائية لتوليد الكهرباء، وتكتظ بأعداد كبيرة من محطات الطاقة الشمسية وتسخيرها هي الأخرى لتوليد طاقة كهربائية، وتتطلع صحارينا حينذاك إلى أن تمتد على ظهرها شكبة كثيفة من أنابيب المياه تأتيها بمياه من البحرين المتوسط والأحمر لتقطيرها بتلك الوسائل المستديمة بكميات تكفي للزراعة الصحراوية والصناعة الصحراوية والمعيشة الصحراوية.
حينذاك تتوافر للصحاري الإفريقية مصدرها من الماء ومصدرها من الطاقة، ويصدق من ينادي بممرات التنمية. بل إن الرقعة الخضراء في الصحاري تكون قد تجاوزت ما حول الممرات إلى مساحات أكثر إتساعاً لتستوعب يصدق وجدارة المزيد من السكان.
