لا ريب بأن الشيخ ظاهر العمل الزيداني رجل عصامي يصح أن يقال عنه إنه كان فريد عصره ومن نوابغ رجال الشرق وكفاه فخرا أنه بعقله ساد قومه وبعدله وحسن سياسته وجسارته وشدة بأسه أنشأ دولة ذات شأن فى قلب دولة بنى عثمان وهى في أوج عزها. فلا جرم أن تاريخه كله عبر وأعمال تستحق أن تخلد في سجل التاريخ الصادق فهو تاريخ نهضة وحرية واستقلال وتجديد عمران عكا وحيفا والناصرة وجميع البلاد التي أستولى عليها أو حالف أصحابها فإنه من برية عرابة البطوف (منشأه الأول) أخذت سطوته تجاري حكمه بالامتداد إلى طبرية والناصرة وصفد وبلادها إلى عكا وحيفا وجميع بلاد حارثة إلى جبل نابلس وجميع بلاد فلسطين، ثم إلى بلاد بشاره وجبل عامل إلى صور وصيدا وبيروت وجبل لبنان، إلى جبل عجلون ومرج عيون. حتى غدت تريكا تخاف بأسه وتهاب سطوته. وبلغ أمره كبار ملوك أوربا فى ذلك العهد، وقامت حينئذ تخطب وده ملكة ورسيا كاترينا الثانية نادرة الملوك والنساء مع يوسف الثاني قيصر النمسا وجرمانيا.
ومن المعلوم أنه لم يكن أحد يتجرأ فى عهد تركيا أن ينشر له تاريخا كاملا صادقا إذ كان يحسب عدوا لها ومجاهرا بالعداء لرجالها. لكن إذ قد تقلص اليوم عن هذه البلاد ظل تركيا المخوف بحمد الله تعالى وأطلقت الحرية لأصحاب الأقلام وأخذوا ينشرون تاريخ الوطن ورجاله الأعلام بدون قيد ولا خوف.
