كنت أطلق الصرخات، صرخات حقيقية، ليس لأنني كنت جائعة، او عطشى، أو خائفة أو مريضة، ولكن لأنني كنت بدأت أرغب في "أن أتكلم"، ولأنني كنت أرغب في أسمع نفسي، فالأصوات لم تكن ترتد إلى مسامعي، كنت أهتز.. فأعرف أنني أصرخ، ولكن الصرخات لم تكن تعني شيئا بالنسبة لأمي أو أبي. بل كانت ، على حد قولهما ، صرخات حادة لطائر البحر، مثل نورس يحوم فوق المحيط. وهكذا، أطلقوا عليّ النورس، كان النورس يصرخ فوق المحيط مطلقا جلبة لا يسمعها هو، ولاهم يفهمون صرخة النورس.
