يشاركُنا المؤلِّفُ في هذا الكتاب كيف تعلَّم بطريقة مؤلمة أنَّه لن يستطيعَ أن يكونَ ناضجًا روحيًّا ما لم ينضجْ وجدانيًّا. فمع كونِه راعيًا لكنيسة نامية، فقد كان يتعامَلُ مع مواقف الحياة كما يفعلُ أغلب الناس، إذ إنَّهم: - يتجاهلون مشاعرهم من غضبٍ وحزنٍ وخوفٍ. - يصنِّفون الحياةَ بين ما هو مقدَّسٌ وروحيٌّ وما هو غير ذلك. - ‘‘يُروحِنونَ’’ الصراعات لتجنُّب مواجهَتِها. ثمَّ يطرحُ المؤلِّف كيف نبَّهَه الله كي يُجرِيَ تكاملًا ناضجًا ما بين الصحَّة الوجدانيَّة، والعلاقة الروحيَّة بالسيِّد المسيح، وكذلك التطبيقات الكلاسيكيَّة للرُّوحانيَّة التأمُّليَّة. وما نتجَ عن ذلك حقَّق ليسَ مجرَّدَ شكلٍ مختلف للحياة، بل كان في الواقع ثورةً روحيَّةً غيَّرتْ حياتَه وكَنيسَتَه تغييرًا جذريًّا. يقول پيتر سكَزيرو عن خبرته الثوريَّة تلك: ‘‘إنَّ من شأن اجتماع الصحَّة الوجدانيَّة والرُّوحانيَّة التأمُّليَّة أن يفتحَ الطريقَ للرُّوح القدس ليعملَ فينا، فنختبرَ قوَّة الحياة الحقيقيَّة في السيِّد المسيح’’.
