"اليمن بين عهدين" كتاب في سلسلة كتب تاريخ اليمن المعاصر؛ قدمه الباحث المؤرخ الدكتور حسين عبد الله العمري بما لديه من وثائق هامة عن المرحلة، حين كانت أسرته – من لدن جده وأبيه- أسرة فاعلة في الحوادث التي تعرضت لها اليمن، في الحقبة الهامة التي يؤرخ لها الكتاب، وهي حقبة الثلث الأخير من القرن التاسع عشر حتى منتصف القرن العشرين. وضع المؤلف يديه على نقاط حساسة في معالجته للموضوع؛ فأشار إلى تراجم أشخاص فاعلين في تلك المدة، سواء من اليمنيين أم من العثمانيين، وأشار إلى دورهم في تاريخ المنطقة. وتحدث عن مفاصل في تاريخ اليمن للفترة التي يتناولها، وما جرى فيها من انتفاضات ومن مشاريع، وما جاء اليمنَ خلالها من وفود، وما حدث فيها من إصلاحات على جميع الأصعدة، وخصوصاً في القضاء ودور القضاة كذلك. وتوقف عند زمن الإمام يحيى حميد الدين، وابنه سيف الإسلام وأبنائه الآخرين. وأشار المؤلف إلى أوضاع اليمن بين الحربين العالميتين، وعلاقة بلاده مع روسيا السوفييتية.. ثم معاهدة صنعاء وظاهرة العزلة في بلاده، وعلاقة اليمن بالعراق والمعاهدة اليمنية- العراقية. الكتاب أحد الكتب الهامة الموثقة لتاريخ اليمن في مرحلة حرجة.
