الحبيب السائح من مواليد منطقة سيدي عيسى ولاية معسكر.
نشأ في مدينة سعيدة، تخرّج من جامعة وهران (ليسانس آداب ودراسات ما بعد التخرّج).
اشتغل بالتّدريس وساهم في الصحافة الجزائرية والعربية.
غادر الجزائر سنة 1994 متّجها نحو تونس حيث أقام بها نصف سنة قبل أن يشدّ الرّحال نحو المغرب الأقصى - صدر لـه : - القرار : مجموعة قصصية، سوريا 1979 / الجزائر 1985.

يبدو الروائيّ الجزائريّ، الحبيب السائح، في هذه الرواية مشغولاً كأشدّ ما يكون الإنشغال، بهاجس الهويّة وقضايا وطنيّةٍ عميقة صاغها في عالمٍ روائيٍّ طافح برائحة الجزائر زمن الإستعمار الفرنسيّ وغداة الإستقلال، ناسجاً، بيدِ روائيٍّ بارع، خيوطَ حكايةٍ تنقبض لها نفْسُك، حيناً وهي تُحدّثك بتفصيلٍ مُذهلٍ عن أجواء الحرب وجرائم المستعمر والميز العنصريّ وعن الفقد... وتنشرح لها، أحياناً أخرى، وهي تحملك في أجواء عواطف الحبّ والصّداقة والحنين والتسامح الدينيّ وعشق الوطن، وقد يلتقي الضدّان معاً فتولد حرارة الحبّ من رحم الحرب وبرد الثّلج!...
بين سعيدة ومعسكر ووهران والجزائر العاصمة رحلةٌ مليئة بأحداث متشابكة بطلُها شابّ يتبعه آخر مثل ظلّه واقعاً وخيالاً، حتّى ازدحمت بحضورهما الرّواية وفاضت على العنوان: "أنا وحاييم"! شابان لم يقامرا بالهويّة، على ما في المسالك إليها من معاناة ووجع!...
وقد تابعَتْهُما عينٌ لا تفلت شاردة، منذ أن كانا طفلين حتّى إذا بلغا أشُدَّهما فرّق بينهما "هادم اللذّات"، هي عين الرّاوي تتنقّل بسلاسة بين زاوية وأخرى فتطوي، في غير تعسّف، مرحلة ساخنة من تاريخ الجزائر.
