يتضمن هذا الكتاب اثنى عشر بحثا للمؤلف قام بجمعهم فى هذا الكتاب وهى ابحاث متنوعة فى التاريخ والحضارة الاسلامية من المشرق ومغربه .. والبحق الاول يؤرخ لاسرة بنو ابى عبد وزراء وقادة الدولة الاموية فى الاندلس اما البحث الثانى فيدرس اضواء فن الغناء والموسيقى فى الاندلس فى عصر الدولة الاموية وعصر دويلات الطوائف والثالث يدرس صور من التعاون العسكرى بين القاهرة ودمشق ضد الصليبديين فى العصر القاطى والرابع يدرس بعض اللمحات الانسانية من حياة المعتمد بين عباد الاسرية اما البحث الخامس فيدرس علاقة مصر المملوكية بغرناطه قبيل وعقب سقوطها ثم نتتقل للبحث السادس الذى يدرس قطر وموارد ثروتها الاقتصادية فى العصورة الوسطى اما البحث السابع فانة يدرس موقف مدينة صورة من احداث الشام منذ منتصف القرن الخامس الهجرى وحتى سقوطها فى ايدى الصلبيين .. وتتوالى ابحاث المؤلف التاريخية حتى تتم اثنى عشر بحث قيما ذو فائده عظمية .
