يقدم فيه لمحة تاريخية عن انتشار الوشم في الحضارات المصرية القديمة.
ويشير إلى أن الكشف عن آثار الوشم في الحضارة القديمة كان منذ بداية الدولة الوسطى، ومن الوحدات الخاصة بالوشم، والتي يبدو أنها انتشرت في الدولة الفرعونية الحديثة، ابتداء من الأسرة الثامنة عشر والتاسعة عشر على شكل المعبود "بس"، وكان الوشم يدق على بعض مواضع من الجسم.
وفي الباب الثاني يعرض المؤلف تحليلًا لوحدات الوشم المنتشرة في مصر والعالم العربي، لنجد جذورها تمتد إلى القصص الشعبي، كالزير سالم- عنترة- صراع مار جرجس للتنين- وبعض القديسين وأشكال الصليب- وتكراره فيما يشبه الوحدات الزخرفية.
أما الباب الثالث فيقدم دراسة عن أوجه التشابه بين وحدات رموز الوشم الشعبي عند بدو محافظة الشرقية، مع رمز الوشم في الأمكنة الأخرى في مصر، عن طريق دق الوشم والأدوات المستعملة، كما كان يستخدم لونًا مكونًا من السناج "الهباب" الناتج من لهب اللمبة الجاز مذابًا في السبرتو، مضافًا إليه قليلًا من الصبغة السمراء، ويقوم بالعمل مباشرة على البشرة الآدمية بعدد من الأبرالتي يستخدمها في رسم النقوش التي يطلبها صاحب دق الوشم.
