سيأتي الموت يومًا ما، هل سيجدني أنا الآخر على أريكة في الغرفة أم أني سأنتظره طويلًا على السرير؟ غالبًا ما سيباغتني الموت من صفحة في كتاب، سأقرأ رواية وسأولع بها، ستنشب الحرب وسأختار أن أموت على مقربة من البطل النبيل. أكره الانتحار لكنني أحب المنتحرين، حين كنت طفلًا كنت أخنق أنفاسي تحت وسادة الجدة وأتظاهر بالموت، كنت أرسم حبلًا على الجدار وأعلق رأسي فيه، كنت أجعل من أصابعي مسدسًا وأملأ الهواء من حولي بالرصاص. فجرت جسدي مرارًا لكني لم أمت، لا أحد يعرف شكل الموت سوى الذين ماتوا. أشفق على الموتى، كيف يعيشون هناك في البرد والعراء والألم؟
