بالأرحى هو محاولة للبحث عن طريق جديدة ومفيدة فى تناول جماعة الإخوان المسلمين، ليس فقط من خلال القراءة التراثية والأيديولوجية لما كتب عنها، ولايزال، وإنما من مصادرها الأولية، من الفرد الإخوانى ذاته، ومستهدفا فى الوقت نفسه إضافته لبنة جديدة إلى البناء المعرفى والمنهجي لما بات يعرف بالظاهرة الإسلامية. وقد استغرق العمل فى هذا الكتاب ما يقرب من عامين، سعى خلالهما المؤلف إلى بلورة صورة واقعية عن الجماعة، وذلك عبر إجراء عشرات اللقاءات والحوارات مع المنتمين للجماعة فى مختلف مستوياتها التنظيمية ما بين قيادات وكوادر قاعدية. لذا،يعد هذا الكتاب بمثابة وثيقة ميدانية عن جماعة المسلمين، يمكن أن تضاف إلى تلك التى أنجزها البحث البريطانى ريتشارد ميتشيل أواخر الستينيات من القرن المنصرم.
