يدور محور البحث في هذا الكتاب حول قضية المرأة الكويتية ونضالها في سبيل إعادة حقوقها المسلوبة اجتماعياً وسياسياً. ذلك النضال المعلن الذي كرسته عبر تنظيمات وجمعيات كانت لها شعارات شتى إسلامية منها وديموقراطية، تلك التنظيمات أسستها المرأة الكويتية عبر فترات زمانية متفاوتة، والكتاب في أساسه صدر سابقاً وذلك قبل مدة من تاريخ اجتياح العراق للكويت، حيث شهدت الحركة النسائية قبل تلك الفترة وبعدها تطورات ارتبطت بالواقع ومستجداته. لذا فقد ألحق الكتاب في طبعته الجديدة (2001) بفصلين جديدين يتناولان تلك التطورات على صعيد حركة التنظيمات النسائية والتي بلغت المرأة في هذه الفترة أعلى درجات الكفاح في سبيل الحصول على حقوقها الضائعة في كل المجالات.
