تضم "حاشية الصفتي على الجواهر الزكية في حل ألفاظ العشماوية" جهود ثلاثة من علماء المالكية المصريين، أولهم هو الشيخ عبد الباري العشماوي، الذي كتب مختصرًا وجيزًا ضمّنه زبدة الفقه المالكي، مقتصرا فيه على أهم المسائل المشتهرة في أبواب الطهارة والصلاة والصوم. وقد اشتهر هذا المختصر باسم "متن العشماوية"، وتلقته علماء المالكية بالقبول، فكتب حوله عدد كبير من الشروح كان من أبرزها شرح الشيخ أحمد بن تركي، المسمى بالجواهر الزكية في حل ألفاظ العشماوية، والذي لم يقتصر فيه على مجرد شرح متن العشماوية، بل أضاف إليه مسائل أبواب العبادات الأخرى، ليصبح كتابه شاملا لجميع أبواب العبادات من طهارة وصلاة وصوم وزكاة وحج. توجهت لذلك عناية علماء المالكية إلى هذا الشرح فكتبت حوله مجموعة من الحواشي اشتهر من بينها حاشية الشيخ الصفتي، والتي قام فيها صاحبها بالتعليق على الشرح، مدققا ومنقحا ومصححا لما جاء فيه، مقارنا بين الأقوال، ومثبتا للمعتمد منها في المذهب وفق ما تلقاه عن مشايخه من أئمة المدرسة المالكية.
