حينما يتحفز مجتمع نحو النهوض والتقدم فإنه يبحث عن الأفكار الخلاقَّة، والآراء الدافعة للحركة والعطاء، ويسعى لإستثمار أي طاقة معنوية أو مادية، من أجل تحسين واقعه ورفع مستوى أوضاعه.
وعلى العكس من ذلك إذا سادت المجتمع حالة ركود وجمود فإنه يفتش عن الأفكار التبريرية، ويتشبث بالآراء المسوغّة للتقاعس والتخلف، ويبدد الإمكانات المادية والمعنوية في إهتمامات سطحية قشرية، على حساب القضايا الأساسية والمصالح الحقيقية.
إن المعتقدات الدينية وما ينبثق عنها من شعائر ومناسبات، تشكل ثروة ورصيداً ضخماً، لخدمة تطلعات المجتمع نحو التنمية والتقدم، وتأكيد الأصالة، وإلتزام القيم الأخلاقية، وحماية الوحدة الإجتماعية.
لكن ذلك رهن بالفهم الصحيح للمعتقدات، والوعي السليم بمقاصد الشعائر والمناسبات الدينية، وحين يكون الفهم خاطئاً، والوعي ناقصاً، فقد تصبح ممارسة الشعائر مجرد طقوس وتقاليد خاوية، وقد تتحول إلى عوائق أمام حركة المجتمع وتقدمه.
ومن المناسبات والشعائر الدينية التي تحظى بأهمية كبرى في مجتمعاتنا: الإحتفال بليلة النصف من شعبان، حيث تتفاعل كل شرائح المجتمع مع هذه المناسبة.
إن هذه العقيدة، وهذه المناسبة، يجب أن تكون باعثاً لتطلعات الإصلاح، وآمال التغيير، وأن تشكل دافعاً لتحمل المسؤولية تجاه قيم الحق والعدل.
