تفتقر الأعمال الروائية المحلية عموماً إلى رائحة ونكهة الريف الأردني، فلم يكتب كاتب على حد علمي، رواية مثل رواية عبد الرحمن الشرقاوي: "الأرض"، لا بل إن مشاكل الريف الأردني وقضاياه وأنماط الحياة فيه، لم تتعرض للدراسة الوافية الشاملة، فإن توفرت بعض الدراسات الجادة كانت أقل من أصابع اليد الواحدة.
من هنا، جاء إهتمامي الكبير برواية طاهر العدوان "وجه الزمان"، ذلك لأننا بحاجة لمثل هذه الرواية من حيث هي وثيقة إجتماعية عن الحياة في الريف الأردني.
لقد فرحت بها ولها فرحاً دفعني إلى عدم الإنتظار لحين صدورها، ودفعني إلى (التبشير) بولادة عمل روائي مثل عمل طاهر العدوان.-مؤنس الرزاز
