إنسان هذا العصر أصبح أكثر معرفة وإطلاعاً، حيث تتوفر المعلومات والتقارير بين يديه حول أيّ شأن من الشؤون أو أيّ قضية تهمه من القضايا، وقد انحسرت رقعة الأسرار والممنوعات إلى حدٍّ كبير، حتى محاضر اللقاءات الخاصة لدهاقنة السياسة الدولية وجدت طريقها للتسريب والنشر عبر موقع ويكيلكس وغيره.
ومع تطور تكنولوجيا التواصل والإتصالات فإنه يمكن تسجيل وتوثيق كل كلمة تلفظ، أو حركة تحدث في أيّ بقعة من العالم، ويمكن تخزينها وإستدعاؤها عند الطلب والحاجة.
وأصبح الإنسان اليوم أكثر ثقة بنفسه، حيث لا يحجم عن التفكير في أيّ أمر، ولا يتردد في تقرير أيّ رأي وموقف يقتنع به.
كما تعززت لدى الإنسان المعاصر جرأة التعبير عن رأيه، حيث تقلصت سلطات القمع والبطش، وأمكن تجاوز حواجزها ورقابتها إلى حدٍّ كبير.
وفقدت مراكز القدرة والقوة في المجتمع البشري الكثير من هيبتها ورهبتها المادية والمعنوية، التي كانت تُحكم بها سيطرتها على من حولها، وتمنعهم من النقد والإعتراض والتمرد عليها.
حتى الأسرة لم تعد قادرة على الهيمنة على أفرادها كما في الزمن الغابر، حيث كانت الزوجة والأولاد يعلنون الخضوع التام لربِّ الأسرة.
فقد تطور الوعي الحقوقي بين بني البشر، وأصبحوا مهتمين بالتمتع بتلك الحقوق وممارستها في حياتهم، ضمن مختلف المواقع، وأصبحت تلك الحقوق محميّة بسياج من القوانين والمواثيق والمعاهدات الدولية، والرأي العام العالمي.
كما تواجه الحكومات وخاصة غير الديمقراطية تحدياً أكبر في ممارسة سلطتها وهيمنتها على شعوبها.
ونصل في هذا السياق إلى الحديث عن مواقع القدرة المعنوية المتمثلة في المؤسسة الدينية والقيادات الروحية من علماء الدين، فهل هم في منأى عن هذه التطورات؟... هل يحظون اليوم بالدرجة ذاتها التي كانوا يتمتعون بها في الماضي من الهيبة والتقديس؟... هل لا يزال علماء الدين والمؤسسة الدينية منطقة محظورة لا يقتحمها النقد والإعتراض؟...
صحيح أن دور الدين قد تصاعد في المجتمعات، وتبعاً لذلك زاد نفوذ علماء الدين وتأثيرهم.
