لا شك في أن إرتباط الإنسان بالمكان إرتباطاً مشيمياً أفضى إلى عدم إمكانية الفصل بينهما، ليس على مستوى الحياة الإجتماعية فحسب، وإنما على مستوى التجربة الإبداعية أيضاً، فشكّل حضور المكان الراسخ في النص الشعري، والمصبوغ بصبغة التجربة الإبداعية الواعية محور الأداء الجمالي الذي طالما ألح هذا التناول على فك إشكاليته.
وتزداد معضلة المكان في شكلها المعقد من إصرار التناول على جعل المكان مولداً للمعنى وباعثاً لقيمه الدلالية، أو جعل المعنى أكثر إرتباطاً بالمكان وإيحاءاته، وكان المعنى لا يكتسب أبعاده القصوى إلا إذا استرقد المكان، واستخلص منه محمولاته الدلالية.
وبعد الإطلاع والتبصر بما يختزنه المكان من خفايا جمالية، كان منهج التحليل الفني سبيلنا إلى إستكشاف تلك الخفايا التي دمغت المكان بدمغتها الفنية، كما لم ينأ البحث بنفسه عن الإستفادة من أصداء مناهج أخرى، أسلوبية وإحصائية ونفسية.
ويرجع اختيارنا لهذا المنهج إلى سببين رئيسيين: أولهما ما ذكرناه من قدرته على إبراز الخفايا الجمالية لبناء المكان في النص الشعري، أما ثانيهما فيعود إلى حاجة المادة المدروسة إلى مثل ذلك المنهج، إذ إن ما تتسم به من تنوع فني وفكري، أفضى إلى تعدد تقانات استحضار المكان في النص الإبداعي، ومن ثمّ كان منهج التحليل الفني خير ما يستبطن ويجلي جماليات وذلك التنوع الإبداعي الذي طال فترة زمنية بلغت ستين عاماً.
فضلاً عن أن جعل الدراسة "المكان" موضوعاً لإشتغالها لم يقيدها عند جمود المادة، إذ ليست المادة غاية بحد ذاتها، بل مثلت أساساً انطلقت منه لكشف خفايا التشكيل الجمالي للمكان في جوانبه النفسية والتخييلية.
