هذه الطبعة في أصلها أطروحتان لنيل درجة الدكتوراه في العقيدة والمذاهب المعاصرة: الأطروحة الأولى: أ. د. أحمد بن عثمان المزيد، وتبدأ من أول الكتاب إلى "فصل في ذكر أحاديث تبين خطأهم في أفعالهم" من الباب العاشر (ص 527).
والأطروحة الثانية: أ. د. علي بن عمر السحيباني، تبدأ من "ذكر تلبيس إبليس على الصوفية في الرقص والسماع والوجد" من الباب العاشر، إلى الباب الثالث عشر نهاية الكتاب.
وأما قسم الدراسة فقد اختير من أطروحة أ. د. أحمد المزيد، ويشتمل على ثلاثة فصول مختصرة: ترجمة المؤلف، عقيدته، التعريف بالكتاب، ويجدر التنبيه إلى أن الفصل الثاني (عقيدة المؤلف) أوردناه كما هو في الأصل دون إختصار؛ نظراً لأهميته.
كما اختصرتْ هذه الطبعةُ كثيراً من حواشي الأطروحتين، إلا التعليقات العقدية فأبقيناها كما هي في أصلها، فأوجزنا في التخريج والتوثيق والإستشهاد غاية الإيجاز، وحذفنا جلّ التراجم وفروق النسخ والتعليقات غير العقدية.
