حدّقتُ ببهمن، بحاجبيه الأسودين المتّصلين، بأنفه الدقيق، وبشفتيه المتناسقتين اللتين ما برحتا تضجّان بالحياة، كم بدا لي محيّاه في تلك اللحظة جميلاً ومحبّبّاً!...
تذكرت أبي، فانهمرت الدموع من عيني، وقلت: "ليرحم الله أبي، ليته كان حيّاً، فيرى صهره بعينيه".
قطّب بهمن حاجبيه، وقال: "لماذا البكاء مجدّداً؟ لقد وعدتك بأن لا أسمح للدموع بأن تسكن عينيك، أقسم عليك إلّا ما تبسّمت"... فاختلط بكائي بضحكي...
... أحلم ليلاً ببيتنا، وأشتاق لغرفتنا شوق الأطفال، وأتلهف لرؤية بيتكم وباحته الفسيحة؛ فما أكثر ذكرياتنا... لقد سقطت مدينتنا في قبضة العدو غريبة مظلومة، لكني يا نسرين لن أتنازل عنها، ولن يتنازل أحدّ منّا...
لقد تعاهدنا أن نعود إليها من أجل أصدقائنا الذين استشهدوا، فإن جلسنا مكتوفي الأيدي سيحتل البعثيّون آبادان في أيّام قليلة، وسيتقدّمون أكثر نحو ماهشهر أوهواز وشيراز وحتّى طهران.
إنّهم يتلقّون الدعم، وهم مجهزون بأسلحة فتّاكة... إن جلستُ أنا وأبي وأخواي بقرب زوجاتنا فإنّ العدوّ سيحتل إيران برمّتها خلال ثلاثة أيام...
علينا أن نعود، أودّ ان يبصر أولادي النور في خرّمشهر، أن نمسك بأيديهم عند العصر، ونذهب معاً إلى شاطئ النهر لنأكل الفلافل والسمبوسة، ونجلس على متن اللّنش، ونلعب كرة القدم في أزّقتها وساحاتها وحُفرها.
أنا لا أرضى أن تنام زوجتي أو يولد طفلي في بيوت الناس...
