"عمدة الأحكام" الذي هو مدار الشرح في هذا الكتاب هو مصنف في الفقه عمد فيه مؤلفه عبد الله بن قدامة المقدسي إلى اختصار المسائل الفقهية وذلك بغاية تقريبه على المتعلمين. ولتسهيل حفظه على الطالبين تمّ فيه الاقتصار على قول واحد من أقوال فقهاء المذاهب الأربعة وهو قول الإمام أحمد بن حنبل، وقد تمّ إيداعه فقط الأحاديث الصحيحة، اعتماداً عليها وجعلها المؤلف من الصحاح للاستغناء عن نسبتها إليها. ولأهمية الكتاب تناوله العلماء بالشرح والاعتناء من هؤلاء الإمام العالم عبد الرحمن المقدسي الحنبلي، حيث قام بشرحه، وترتيبه مختصراً. وقد تمّ الاعتناء به مجدداً، حيث انصبّ عمل المحقق على تنقيح أصله وتدارك نقصه وتصحيفه، وترقيم كتبه وأبوابه وفصوله كي يسهل الرجوع إليه رقمياً، والعزو منه وإليه بصفته مرجعاً فقهياً.
