هذا الكتاب هو تحقيق علمي لكتاب "العدّة في شرح العمدة" في الفقه الحنبلي، وكان لهذا الكتاب طبعات عدّة، أكثرها مُقَابَل على نُسخ مخطوطة، إلا أن هناك أخطاءً علميةً تناقلها محققو تلك الطبعات، كما أن أكثر أدلته تحتاج إلى إستكمال وتخريج.
من هنا، سعى المؤلف إلى خدمةٍ هذا السِّفر العظيم في الفقه الحنبلي، وكان جُلُّ عمله هو إستكمال أدلته وبعض مسائله الفقهية، وجعل مسائله مرقمةً ترقيماً مسلسلاً من أول الكتاب إلى آخره، ليسهل الرجوع إليها عند العزو لبعض الفروع التي تتكرر أدلتها أو مضمونها.
وكان منهجه في إستكمال الأدلة الرجوع إلى كتب السنّة التي اقتصرت على الصحيح أولاً، ثم غيرها من السنن.
