هذا الكتاب جاء ليصحح المفاهيم التاريخية المغلوطة في حق هذه الدولة العظيمة التي واصلت ترقية وبناء الحضارة الإنسانية، بجناحيها المادي والروحي؛ تعرض تاريخها للتشويه والتشهير والتزوير دون دليل: فزعموا أنها كانت استعماراً مقنعاً باسم الدين، وأنها ظلمت رعاياها حينما أثقلتهم بالضرائب التعسفية، وصادرت محاصيلهم وماشيتهم، وأنها كانت وراء المذابح التي تعرض لها رعايا الدولة، وأنها فرضت العزلة والتخلف والفقر والمرض على الأقاليم العربية. لقد تناسى أولئك المتحاملون أن الدولة العثمانية واجهت أخطاراً دويلة جسيمة، كانت تهدد العالم العربي بأفدح الأخطار، التي كانت تستهدف الاستيلاء على جدة والزحف منها إلى مكة المكرمة، ثم موالاة الزحف على المدينة المنورة، لنبش قبر الرسول (صلى الله عليه وسلم) وأخذ رفاته رهينة.
