كتاب "أوجز المسالك إلى موطأ الإمام مالك" هو لشيخ المحدثين في العصر الحديث، العلاّمة الشيخ محمد زكريا الكاندهلوي المدني المتوفي في المدينة المنورة، من الكتب المستفيضة في شرح "الموطأ" الذي يعتبر موسوعة في علم الحديث، ومذهب الإمام مالك ومؤلفه القيّم هذا قد نال اعتراف المشتغلين بعلم الحديث، والمنخرطين بمسلك المذهب المالكي، وصدرت له عدة طبعات، وهذه هي الطبعة الجديدة التي تصدر بعد مراجعة من أحد أبرز تلاميذ المؤلف الدكتور الشيخ تقي الدين الندوي أستاذ الحديث في جامعة العين سابقاً.
وبالعودة إلى الكتاب نجد أنه شرح جامع للنفائس العلمية والمباحث اللطيفة، والتحقيقات العجيبة لكتاب موطأ إمام دار الهجرة مالك بن أنس، وهو يغني عن مئات الشروح والحواشي، فكأنه موسوعة ضخمة في علم الحديث النبوي، ومما زاد من أهميته تلك المقدمة المتعلقة بكتاب "الموطأ" وبمؤلفه الإمام مالك. والكتاب يعلن بدون غموض عن سعة علم المؤلف، وصفاء ذهنه، ورحابة صدره في ذكر الدلائل، والحجج، وتحريه للصحة، والدقة في نقل المذاهب وفهمه العميق، وهو يستوفي شرح أسماء الرجال، وبيان المذاهب الأربعة. وما عداها من المسائل الخلافية من كتب موثوقة عند أهلها. وقد طبع هذا الكتاب الجليل أولاً بالهند في ستة مجلدات كبار، ثم أعيدت طباعته في القاهرة، وبيروت في خمسة عشر مجلداً، ثم توالت طبعاته. وها هو الآن يخرج بطبعة جديدة محققة ومنقحة.
وجاء عمل المحقق على النحو التالي: 1-تصحيح الكتاب من الأغلاط والتحريفات بالرجوع إلى النسخة المطبوعة بالهند وهي تابعة لأصل المؤلف في كل شيء من دون تنبيه عليها. 2-رجوع المحقق عند وجود خطأ أو تحريف في نسخة الهند إلى المصادر والمراجع التي نقل عنها المؤلف. 3-تخريج النصوص من مصادرها التي نقل منها المؤلف. 4-التعليق على بعض مواضع الكتاب عند اقتضاء ذلك. 5-صنع فهارس تفصيلية للكتاب تعين على الاستفادة من الكتاب بسهولة.
