يركّب الدرج ليصل ما بين طابقين أو أكثر من طوابق البناء، يجهّز الدرج بوسائل وعناصر، تجعل وصوله إلى مستويات المنزل المختلفة، سهلاً ميسراً.
تحوي كافة طرز المنازل المعروفة أدراجاً، عدا تلك المسماة بالمنازل الريفيّة، الخالية من الأقبية، إذ لا نلاحظ لها، إدراجاً داخلية، إن أهم الإعتبارات، الواجب مراعاتها أثناء تصميم الأدراج، هي محاولة الإرتقاء والهبوط السهلين، إضافة إلى إنسجام مكوِّنات الدرج، مع متطلبات الأمان.
