كانت تعيش دون حلم ودون تطلع إلى يوم آخر حتى جاء من ادعى أنه جدها، كانت ما تزال في الثامنة حين حوّلها ذلك الجد المزعوم إلى خادمة له وللآخرين، وبدلاً من إعالتها ورعايتها، صارت هي ترعاه وتعيله.
في عمر المراهقة باعها إلى أحد بيوت الدعارة، حيث لم تتعرض للإغتصاب وحسب، بل للضرب والتعذيب والعنف، إلا أنها صممت على الصمود والتحدي حتى تعرفت إلى بيار الآتي من فرنسا في حملة إنسانية، فصارت زوجة له، وأنجبت أولاداً وتبنت ابنة قريبة لها؛ زواجها فتح لها آفاقاً واسعة، تمحورت حول حماية الفتيات القاصرات من التشرد ومن إجبارهن على تعاطي الدعارة وهي ظروف لا تليق حتى بحيوان.
تحولت صومالي إلى هدف مهم عند أصحاب المواخير وتجار الرقيق الأبيض، لكن إصرارها جعلها شخصية عالمية، فتهافتت المنظمات الإنسانية الأوروبية على مساعدتها مادياً ومعنوياً، ومنحت الأوسمة من ملك أسبانيا ومن الجمهورية الفرنسية وغيرها؛ وعاماً بعد عام، كان نشاطها يتسع، ونزلاء مراكز جمعيتها يزدادون حتى اعتبرت من المئة شخصية الأكثر تأثيراً في العالم لعام 2009.
هذا الكتاب ليس رواية ولا سيرة ذاتية، بل هو الإثنان معاً، بالإضافة إلى أنه دراسة إجتماعية، أنتروبولوجية لمجتمعات جنوب - شرق آسيا، إنه صرخة ضمير الإنسان في كل مكان... إنه كتاب جدير بالقراءة.
