الكتاب يدور حول قصص قصيرة واقعية، لم يكتب القدر لأصحابها النهايات التي تمنوها فعاشوا فصولها في أروقة أرواحهم؛ حيث لعبت الكاتبة دورًا كبيرًا في صياغة نهايات مختلفة، فرسمت لهم نهايات لو وفقوا لعيشها ما اختاروا سواها، ولكن استثنت الكاتبة من هذه القاعدة ثلاث قصص هم: "ما بعد الرحيل"، "زمن الرسائل الالكترونية وعالم الحب الافتراضي"، "وقصة هل يبكي البحر غرقاه".
قصص الكتاب متنوعة، بعضها مفعم بكرامة الأنثى، وبعضها يحكي عن لوعة الشوق وآلام الفراق، وبعضها الآخر يتطرق إلى مواضيع لم يتطرق إليها الكثير من الكتاب في عالمنا العربي، كفقدان الجنين ومشاعر المرأة عندما تخسر جنينها.
كما تتناول بعض القصص مشاكل المرأة في مجتمعنا كالمرأة المطلقة، والمرأة العقيم، والمرأة التي تأخرت في سن الزواج، تغوص الكاتبة في أعماقهن لتزيل الستار عن مشاكلهن وتعبر عن رفضهن في أن تكون تلك الألقاب وشم على جبينهن، توجه الكاتبة للمجتمع رسالة تحت عنوان يتسم بالجرأة "إلى مجتمع يدس أنفه في ثنايا جرحٍ نزفه موجع.. رجاءًا عدم التبول هنا".
للرجل أيضًا نصيب في الكتاب، فتتحدث الكاتبة عن المتاعب التي يواجهها الرجل كزوج وأب وراعي أسرة كقصة "الجارية وثور الساقية"، أيضًا الرجل الرومانسي، والرجل الخائن، والزوج المحب المضحي.
