صدر قانون التجارة فى 17 مايو 1999على ان يعمل به اعتبارا من أول أكتوبر 1999 باستثناء الأحكام الخاصة بالشيك فلا يعمل بها إلا اعتبارا من أول اكتوبر2000. وقد خصص المشروع الباب الرابع لمعالجة الأوراق التجارية بادنا بالكمبيالة فى الفصل الأول" المواد من 379 حتى467 " ثم السند لأمر فى الفصل الثانى " المواد من 468 حتى 471 " وتناول الأحكام الخاصة بالشيك فى الفصل الثالث " المواد من 372 حتى 539 " ووفقا لنص المادة 472 تطبق احكام الكمبيالة فى المسائل التى ترد بشأنها نصوص خاصة بالشيك وذلك بالقدر الذى لا تتعارض فيه مع طبيعته.
