اتجهت الدراسات المعاصرة المعنية بالكتابة الصحفية الإخبارية إلى تجاوز مرحلة افقتصارفي دراستها على الناحية التحليلية فقط، واصبحت تتناولها بالتركيز على عنصر الجمهور، وينظر الكثير من الباحثين- لاسيما الجانب منهم- إلى مستويات التأثيرات لامختلفة لهذه الكتابة الصحفية الإخبارية بعين الإعتبار خاصة تأثيرات الخصائص التحريرية لها في اهتمامات الجمهور واتجاهاته نحو القضايا المختفلة، وأرى أيضاً أن القضايا الجدلية على خريطة هذه القضايا تمثل أرضية خصبة لرصد هذه التاثيرات مثل قضية غرق العبارة "السلام 98" التي تفجرت أحداثها أوائل شهر فبراير 2006م ةالتي تمثل إطاراً تطبيقياً ملائماً لاختبار تأثير الكتابة الصحفية الإخبارية في الجمهور بالتركيز على مستوى الاهتمامات والاتجاهات من خلال نظريتين علميتين في المجال الإعلامي هما: نظرية "دورة الاهتمام بالقضايا" ونظرية "التأطير"، حيث أرصد من خلالهما قياس وتفسير هذه التأثيرات موضوع الكتاب الذي أتناوله بالتفصيل في صفحاته المختلفة.
