قد تبعت هذه الدراسة من أهمية لغة الطفل وتنميتها ومن ندرة الدراسات التحليلية التي تناولت هذا الجانب وتقدم الدراسة عددا ضخما من ملخصات رسائل الماجستير والدكتوراة التي تناولت لغة الطفل في الفترة من 1995 حتي 2007 قد بلغ عددها (136) دراسة .
جاءت الدراسة في خمسة فصول تناول الأول منها الإطار العام مشكلة الدراسة وأهدافها منهجها وخطواتها والفصل الثاني تناول مفاهيم مرتبطة بالدراسة مفهوم اللغة وخصائصها تكامل الفنون اللغوية والمهارات اللغوية والثقافة اللغوية والبحث العلمي وخصائصة ويقدم الفصل الثالث عرضا لرسائل الماجستير والدكتوراة التي تناولت لغة الطفل في الفترة من 1995 حتي 2007 أما الفصل الرابع فيقدم دراسة تحليلية للرسائل المعروضة بالفصل الثالث في ضوء محاور التحليل ويقدم الفصل الخامس رؤية مستقبلية للبحث العلمي في مجال لغة الطفل وتنميتها.
