منذ أن خلق الله الإنسان جعل في غريزته حب المال، لكونه وسيلة لقضاء الحاجات. إلا أن نظرة الإنسان إلى هذا المال لا تقف عند قضاء حاجته بل يتسع أفقه إلى شهوات تمليها نفسه وإذا استرسل في تلبيتها فلن تستقيم حياة الفرد مع الجماعة، ما أدى إلى نشوء نظريات لتحديد علاقة الإنسان والمال وصلته به انطلاقاً من تصورات بشرية تجاه الكون والإنسان والحياة. ولما كان الأمر بهذه الأهمية كان من الطبيعي أن تجلو رسالة الإسلام الخالدة هذه الغياهب من المذاهب والأفكار.
ولكن هذا البيان يحتاج إلى من يستبينه ويبحث عنه لأن شريعة الله منها ما هو قطعي الدلالة ومنها ما هو ظني. لذا تعددت الأنظار في بعض الجوانب من سياسة الإسلام من الاقتصاد والمال. وهذا البحث يعالج واحداً من هذه الجوانب وهو أحد المصطلحات الاقتصادية في الإسلام ألا وهو "الكنز" حيث بحث في دلالته وما فسر به، وما نقل عن الصحابي الجليل أبي ذر الغفاري رضي الله عنه فيه وموقف الصحابة منه، دليل كل مع بيان الرأي المختار في المسألة. وقد اشتمل البحث على تمهيد وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة. ذكر في التمهيد مقدمات تتعلق بالموضوع في ثلاثة مطالب.
بينما بحث في الفصل الأول آراء العلماء في الكنز مع نسبة هذه الآراء إلى أصحابها في أربعة مطالب ثم بين في الفصل الثاني أدلة المذاهب في مطلبين وخصص الفصل الثالث للدراسة والمناقشة حيث توقف عند نقاط هامة بين المذاهب فبحثها، وبين موقف كل فريق من الآخر ومناقشته له، وأبدى في معظم مطالب هذا الفصل وجهة نظره، بينما ترك التعقيب في البعض الآخر واكتفى بالعرض ليبين الراجح في الخاتمة التي بيّن فيها الرأي المختار مع طرف من الحكمة في تحريم الكنز وذلك ضمن نتائج البحث.
