كتاب "دور النخبة السياسية الفلسطينية في تكوين رأس المال الاجتماعي" هو دراسة تقدمت بها مؤلفته نادية أبو زاهر لنيل شهادة الدكتوراه من جامعة القاهرة، تناقش فيها مصطلح رأس المال الاجتماعي الذي شاع تداوله منذ تسعينيات القرن المنصرم، وكان له شأن مهم في بلورة مفاهيم التنمية والديمقراطية والمجتمع المدني، وفي تحديد مؤشراتها، مثل الثقة والتعاون والشبكات. وهذا الكتاب عرض تحليلي وتركيبي معًا لبعض أفكار بيار بورديو وروبرت بوتنام، وغيرهما، ومحاولة لاكتشاف أثر المؤشرات التي أنتجتها أفكارهم عن رأس المال الاجتماعي في النخبة السياسية الفلسطينية، ولا سيما لدى النخب السياسية في حركتي "فتح" و"حماس"، مع الأخذ في الحسبان أن النخب الفلسطينية لا تعمل في مجتمع مدني راسخ ومفتوح، بل في نطاق جغرافي- سياسي يطبق عليه الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بجميع تفاصيله.
كما تتناول الكاتبة بالتفصيل الإطار النظري لمفهوم رأس المال الاجتماعي، وأنواعه، ومصادر تكوينه، فضلًا عن خصوصية مصادر رأس المال الاجتماعي وأنواعه في الحالة الفلسطينية. ولا تغفل المؤلفة الدور المهم للاحتلال في تكوين رأس المال الاجتماعي وخصوصية الحالة الفلسطينية، إضافة إلى مصادر تكوّنه. وتحوز اهتمام القارئ عندما تتحدث عن النخبة السياسية الفلسطينية وسماتها، وعن صراع شرائحها وعن أثرها في تكوين رأس المال الاجتماعي.
