وعبر صفحات الكتاب يضيء الكاتب على فضائله (ع) ومناقبه الشريفة في الفقه، وفي تفسير القرآن، وفي علم النحو والعربية، وفي صفاته من شجاعة، وقوة، وسخاء وجود، وجهاده في سبيل الله، مكارمه، زهده وعبادته. كذلك يضم الكتاب (أشعاره) (ع) يرتبها الكاتب بحسب التسلسل الهجائي للغة العربية أي (الألفبائي). وهي تتضمن قصائد قالها الإمام علي في محطات مختلفة من حياته. ومن هذه الشذرات نختار لك:
، "إصبر على الدهر لا تغضب على أحدٍ / فلا نرى غير ما في الدهر مخطوط ، ولا تقيمنّ بدارٍ لا انتفاع بها / فالأرض واسعة والرزق مبسوط".
