في العقدين الأخيرين من القرن الماضي وفي العقد الحالي من هذا القرن، وفي أجواء عاصفة من التقابل الصدامي بين ما هو ديني وما هو دنيائي -علماني وليبرالي-، ومع تعاظم الدعوة إلى الديمقراطية والحرية واشتدادها، وتقدم الفرداني على الاجتماعي تقدماً خارقاً، نجمت في (مدينة الإسلام الكونية)، وفي المجال المشترك بين الغرب وبين الإسلام، ظاهرة "خرق الحرية" لمجال "المقدس الإسلامي"، وهو خرق كان الغرب قد مارسه والفه منذ (عصر التنوير) والدخول في (الحداثة). وقبل ذلك بعقود -واليوم أيضاً- تثير الحداثة والتحديث ونتائجهما تحولات وفعالاً عميقة تطال جملة المفاهيم والقيم المركزية الثقافية والأخلاقية والدينية والاجتماعية التاريخية في وجود الإنسان العربي.
