يحضر دائماً، في نصوص رشاد أبو شاور، ذلك المكان المحذوف، ذلك الفراغ المكاني، الذي هو أكبر من المكان وأثقل منه، بجاذبيته العالية وسطوته على الموجودات. إن الأشياء تبدو منفلتة وهائمة خارج المكان. لكنها في الحقيقة، تتناثر وتلتم وينقذف بعضها نحو بعض ونحو ذلك المكان في حركة واحدة.
صحيح أن رشاد أبو شاور يرصد لنا السيرورة المريرة في المنفى. لكنه في الوقت نفسه، يرصد ذلك النهر الجوفي المعاكس لحركة المنفى: يرصد وجدانا يعاكس التاريخ وشروطه الصلبة، وموجودات تتحرك ف باستقطاب دائن، وتنزح عائدة في الزمان الذي يتخثر ليغدو مكاناً. مقابل المؤلف، يتحرك السارد في النص تلك الحركة الجوفية المعاكسة ذاتها، فعلى الرغم من أن حركته السطحية تبدو مكرسة لاجتياز نص أمامي تخيلي، إلا أنه يتحرك في العمق نحو نص ورائي مزوره في الذاكرة وتاريخي، إنه في الحقيقة يبني نصاً موازياً للذاكرة، كأنما ليكرسها ويعليها ويجعلها المصدر الأساس للسرد والسارد.
إن الذاكرة أداة مركزية في عمل رشاد أبو شاور الروائي. لكنها ليست ذاكرة تسجيلية. إنها ذاكرة نوستالجية توهم بأنها تسجل ما جرى لكنها في الحقيقة تلملم الماضي وتعيد خلقه. إن السارد عند رشاد أبو شاور ميال دائماً لابتكار الماضي ودفع كل شيء باتجاهه.
السارد يعود، من لحظته الراهنة إلى ماض أمامي. من منفاه في المخيلة إلى وطنه في الذاكرة. يعود يتكثف ويلتئم لا ليؤرخ ولا ليتخيل، بل ليتشكل هكذا يتكثف النص ويتحول إلى مكان، والمؤلف لا يختبئ وراء السارد ونصه، بل يتحرك هو ونصه موازياً لهما نحو ذلك المكان الوحيد.
هنا، ليس ثمة بحث عن الوطن ولا ماهيته، ثمة بحث عن الطريق إليه، وعن النار السرية التي ترشقنا نحوه، ولذا فإن حقيقة وجود السارد هنا وفاعليته في النص لا تأكد إلا بمقدار اقترابه من ذلك النص المحذوف، ذلك الفراغ النصي الذي يملأ الذاكرة ويشحنها، والذي هو أكبر من النص وأثقل منه. ولذا أيضاً نلمس لجزء رشاد أبو شاور المبكر لآلية (الخراف) التي تجعل السادر يسرد دائماً كأنما ليعيد المتلقي إلى مكان مضى وزمان مضى وكائن يتجه نحوهما في الزمان والمكان.
إنها تلك الحركة التي تعيد الثمرة إلى بذريتها لتحميها من اليباس القادم والقديم.
