وقد توخّينا أن يكون الكتاب سهلاً بطريقة تعليم قواعد الإعراب، دون الحاجة إلى شرح معقّد، وأن يكون بسيط العرض، كثير الأمثلة، وأن توضع جمل أو أبيات شعر أو سور من "القرآن الكريم" ذات صلة بموضوع الدرس لإعرابها كنماذج يقاس عليها.
لقد استعرضنا العناصر الأساس في تكوين الجملة المفيدة وعمليّة إعرابها، وهي: العامل: وهو ما يحدث الرفع أو النصب أو الجزم أو الجرّ؛ المعمول: وهو ما يتغيّر آخره برفع أو نصب أو جزم أو جرّ بتأثير العامل فيه؛ العمل (الإعراب): وهو الأثر الحاصل بتأثير العامل من رفع أو نصب أو جزم أو جرّ.
