كان التصوّف الإسلامي ولا يزال من المواضيع القلقة على امتداد تاريخنا العربي الإسلامي، إذ طالما كان مثار جدال ومبعث تضارب في الآراء والمواقف.
ولعلّ البحث عن المشروعية الدينية الإسلامية عموماً والسُنّية خصوصاً هو من الهواجس الكبرى للمتصوّفة في سائر أطوارهم منذ نشأة التصوّف في الإسلام إلى اليوم.
فقد كثرت المحاولات الرامية إلى إضفاء المشروعية السُنّية على التصوّف والمصالحة بين المتصوّفة "أهل الباطن" والفقهاء "أهل الظاهر" مع الحارث المحاسبي والطوسي والكلاباذي والقشيري... وصولاً إلى أبي حامد الغزالي.
والجامع بين هذه المحاولات كلها هو تأصيل الممارسة الصوفية في الكتاب والسُنّة، والحرص على التوفيق بين عقائد كلا الطريقين، والتبرؤ من الإنحرافات التي شابت سلوك المتصوّفة وتقريب الشقّة بينهم وبين الفقهاء، والإعراض عن كل ما يُسيء إلى العلاقة بينهما.
ولعلّ من بين الإسهامات الحاسمة في هذا المضمار، مساهمة الفقيه الأصولي السُنّي الأشهر، أبي إسحاق الشاطبي، الذي كان شاهداً على عصره، ورام من خلال مجهوده التجديدي في أصول الفقه وعنايته بمقاصد الشريعة أن يكون مؤفقاً بين المختلفين، وجامعاً بين المتنازعين رغم العداوة المتأصلة بين الفقهاء والمتصوّفة على مدار التاريخ الإسلامي.
فما هي الطوائق التي اعتمدها الشاطبي لوضع "فقه" لأهل التصوّف؟ وكيف أستطاع التوفيق بينها وبين أصول الشرع رغم الإختلاف البيّن بينهما؟ وهل نجح في عمله التأصيلي هذا وأقنع به الفقهاء والمتصوّفة على حد سواء؟ هذا ما يجيبنا عنه واحد من خيرة الباحثين المرموقين والمؤلِّفين المتميّزين في الفكر الصوفي وفلسفة التصوّف.
