المجموعة الأولى من هذه المقالات وضعتُ لها عنوان "في مهب العاصفة" وقد نشرت سابقاً، اخترت عنوان في "مهب الثورة" لهذه المجموعة، كتبت المقالات المدرجة في هاتين المجموعتين على مدى خمس سنوات في صحيفة السفير، وذلك أسبوعياً دون إنقطاع، خلال هذه الفترة انتقلت حال الأمة من العاصفة إلى الثورة.
العاصفة تهب من الخارج، وربما من الدخل، ولكن بعوامل خارجية غالباً، وقد عانت الأمة كثيراً من العواصف التي جعلتها موضوع صراعات وحروب، وأعادت القواعد الأجنبية إلى معظم بلدان الوطن العربي، وأعادت معها الإستعمار.
الثورة يصنعها الناس، في صنع الثورة يتحول الجمهور من كمِّ مهمش، من كمٍّ مستسلم خاضعٍ، مستسلم قابل بكل شيء خائف من كل شيء، إلى ذات فاعلة؛ يصير شعباً، يمتلك كرامة، ومع ذلك تزداد همته على العمل والإنتاج وعلى فعل كل شيء آخر.
هذه المقالات هي أشبه بيوميات أسبوعية، كان اختيار الموضوع، للكتابة حوله، يتطلب جهداً ونقاشاً أكثر بكثير من كتابته بحد ذاتها؛ خاصة إذا تبلورت فكرة الموضوع قبل صياغته، كان البحث في حنايا الذات عن الموضوع الذي يشكل إتصالاً بالجماهير، بشكل أو بآخر؛ ليس ضرورياً أن تكون منهم لكي تعرف ما هم فيه؛ لكن الضروري أن تكون معهم حتى تعرفهم وحتى تبني إلتزامك بهم على المعرفة.
أرجو أن أكون قد أنجزت مهمتي الصحافية - الفكرية، التي كثيراً ما يقال لي إنها أصبحت غير معتادة في عالم الصحافة، أستطيع القول إنني محفوظ أو أستطيع أن أكتب دون مراعاة لأي شيء خارج ما يمليه الضمير.
