مذكرات تقرأ في الكويت، من خلالها، قبل النفط كما كانت بلا رتوش ولا تجميل مذكرات رحلات كتبها رحّالة سجلوا من خلالها انطباعاتهم عن الكويت القديمة والكويت قبل النفط، كويت اللؤلؤ والدانات والسفن والحياة القاسية والبسيطة، وفي هذه الرحلات سجلوا مشاهداتهم عن سواحلها ومدنها وطرقاتها، والأهم من ذلك أنهم كتبوا عن ناسها البسطاء. هذه الرحلات المدوّنة هي تلك التي بدأت في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر مع الرحالة الأميركي ألوش عام 1868، ومن ثم رحلة الحاج عبد الله ويليامسون والرحلة الرسمية التي قام بها نائب ملك بريطانيا في الهند اللورد كرزون 1903، ورحلة الكاتب السوري عبد المسيح الانطاكي عام 1908، ورحلة الشاب الهندي اس كرستجي عام 1917، بجانب الرحلة المهمة التي قام بها الكاتب اللبناني أمين الريحاني للكويت عام 1922 وأخيراً رحلة الشيخ محمد رشيد رضا صاحب جريدة المنار.
