توالت على الأمة الإسلامية على مر العصور، طوائف وجماعات من أهل العلم، تخصصوا في العلوم الشرعية، وأبدعوا في شتى فنونها وشعبها، فأسسوا لها منهجاً دقيقاً، أصَّلوا أصوله، ووضعوا قواعده، فنالوا بذلك شرف التوقيع عن رب العالمين، وراثة النبيّ الأمين.
وكما برز علماء فحول، فقد ظهرت أسر علمية، كان لها بالغ الأثر في نشر العلم النافع، مثل أسر الحافظ العراقي والسبكي وابن رشد والقاضي عياض وغيرها، حيث نجد الأب والإبن، أو الجد والحفيد، أو العائلة ببناتها وأصهارها من العلماء المشهود لهم بالتمكن في العلم، والمثابرة في نشره.
وقد أنجب المغرب الأقصى أسراً علمية عديدة، منها آل القادري وآل ابن سودة وآل بن كيران وآل الكتابي وآل نجد وغيرها.
ومن الأسر العلمية المغربية - بل من أبرزها - الأسرة الصديقية الغمارية، التي عرف أفرادها بالنبوغ والتحقيق والجرأة في الإجتهاد والتجديد، وإسهاماتهم المتميزة والنوعية في شتى المجالات العلمية أوضح دليل وأسطع برهان على ذلك.
لقد تولى هذا البحث الكشف عن جهود علّم من أعلام هذه الأسرة، وجهبذ من جهابذتها، العلامة المحقق الشريف السيد عبد الله بن الصديق الغماري الإدريسي الحسني الذي اشتهر بالنبوغ والتفوق وسلوك طريق الإجتهاد في العلوم الشرعية.
وقد جاء البحث مشتملاً بعد المقدمة على بابين اثنين، ضم كل واحد منهما فصولاً، وفي كل فصل عدد من المباحث، إضافة إلى خاتمة وملحقين، تناول الباب الأول الحديث عن الحافظ عبد الله بن الصديق العالم المجتهد، من حيث اشتمل الباب الثاني على دراسة مقارنة لفقه الحافظ عبد الله بن الصديق.
