لقد رتب الشارع الحكيم على عقد الزواج حقوقاً وواجبات فما هو حق للزوج واجب من الزوجه له، وما حق للزوجة واجب من الزوج لها ومن حق الرجل تجاه الزوجته طعاته والقيام بما أمرها الشارع تجاه زوجها؛ فالطاعة إذن من أهم أسس التي ينبني عليها نجاح الحياة الزوجية، ومن هنا جاء هذا الكتاب ليعرض في كل مسألة من مسائله أقوال الفقهاء، وما ذهب إليه قانون الأحوال الشخصية وبناءً على ذلك فقد بين الكتاب مفهوم الطاعة، والحقوق المتبادلة بين الزوجين ومواصفات مسكن الزوجية الذي يستطيع الزوج طلب زوجته لطاعته فيه وقارن بين ماذكره الفقهاء مع ما تبناه قانون الاحوال الشخصية ثم بين الكتاب كيف يتقدم الزوج بدعوى طاعة صحيحة، وكيف تجيب الزوجة على هذه الدعوى، والدفوع التي يمكن بها دفع دعوى الزوج وكيف يصدر الحكم بالدعوى، والأثار المترتبة على رفض الزوجة تنفيذ حكم الطاعة، من خلال استقراء القرارات الصادرة عن محاكم الاستئناف الشرعية. ثم تضمن الكتاب إحصاء لدعاوى الطاعة؛ المقدمة للمحاكم الشرعية في الضفة الغربية من فلسطين عام 2000، ونتيجة هذه الدعوى وتضمنت خاتمة الكتاب أهم النتائج والتوصيات التي تم التوصل إليها.
