يمثل نظام العبادات في الشريعة الإسلامية أحد أوجهها الثابتة التي لا تتأثر بطريقة الحياة العامة وظروف التطور المدني في حياة الإنسان إلا بقدر يسير، خلافاً لجوانب تشريعية أخرى مرنة ومتحركة، ففي المجال العبادي يصلي إنسان عصر الكهرباء والقضاء ويصوم ويحج، كما كان يصلي ويصوم ويحج سلفه في عصر الطاحونة اليدوية... وهذا يعني أن الشرعية لم تعطر الصلاة والصيام والحج والزكاة وغير ذلك من عبادات الإسلام كوصفه موقوته، وصيغة تشريعية محدودة بالظروف التي عاشتها في مستهل تاريخها، بل فرضت تلك العبادات على الإنسان وهو ياول عملية تحريك الآلة بقوى الذرة، كما فرضتها على الإنسان الذي كان يحرث الأرض بمحراثه اليدوي.
وحين نلاحظ العبادات المختلفة في الإسلام نجد فيها عنصر الشمول لجوانب الحياة المتنوعة، فلم تختص العبادات بأشكال معينة من الشعائر ثم تقتصر على الأعمال التي تجسد مظاهر التعظيم لله سبحانه وتعالى فقط، كالركوع والسجود والذكر والدعاء، بل امتدت إلى كل قطاعات النشاط الإنساني، فالجهاد عبادة وهو نشاط اجتماعي، والزكاة عبادة وعي نشاط اجتماعي مالي، والخمس عبادة وهو نشاط اجتماعي مالي أيضاً، والصيام عبادة وهو نشاط غذائي، والوضوء الغسل مبادتان وهما لونان من تنظيف الجسد، هذا الشمول في العبادات يعبر عن اتجاه عام في التربية الإسلامية، يستهدف أن يربط الإنسان في كل أعماله ونشاطاته بالله تعالى، ويحول كل ما يقوم به من جهد صالح إلى عبادة مهما كان حقله ونوعه، ومن أجل إيجاد الأساس الثابت لهذا الاتجاه وزعت العابدات الثابتة على الحقول المختلفة للنشاط الإنساني تمهيداً إلى تمرين الإنسان على أن يسبغ روح العبادة على كل نشاطاته الصالحة، وروح المسجد على مكان عمله في المزرعة أو المصنع أو المتجر أو المكتب، ما دام يعمل صالحاً من أجل الله سبحانه وتعالى. وما نحن بصدده في هذا الكتاب هو بيان فلسفة الجانب العبادي من التشريع الإسلامي.
