ولما كان التخطيط السليم والدقيق يحتاج إلى قاعدة تفصيلية من البيانات الديموغرافية فإن هذا الاحتياج يولد الضرورة اللازمة لنشر مبادئ هذا العلم، علم الديموغرافية، واعتمادها والاستفادة منها، وكذلك نشر الثقافة الديموغرافية بين أبناء المجتمع العربي. من أجل ذلك يأتي هذا الكتاب الذي يحاول المؤلف من خلاله التعريف بالواقع الديموغرافي العربي وبالتغير الذي حصل فيه على مدى المائة سنة الماضية، وذلك بهدف إضافةٍ علميةٍ ديموغرافية جديدة إلى المكتبة العربية.
