ونسعى من خلال هذا البحث إلى الوقوف على النظام القانوني الذي يحكم عمل المحكــم بدءاً من اختيار المحكم وتشكيل هيئة التحكيم والشروط الواجب توافرها فيمن يختار لهذه المهمة والعلاقة بين المحكم والمحتكم, وانتهاء بإنهاء مهمة المحكم عن طريق رده أو عزله أو استبداله…
وقد رأينا أن نتناول هذه القواعد في إطار قوانين دول مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية, وتحدد نطاق هذا البحث بالنظام القانوني الذي يحكم المحكم من حيث عملية اختياره للمهمة وتشكيل هيئة التحكيم والشروط اللازمة لذلك, والعلاقة بين المحكم وأطراف الخصومة, ومسئولية المحكم وأخيراً إنهاء مهمة المحكم, لذلك يخرج عن نطاق هذا البحث عملية التحكيم ذاتها من حيث طريقة نظر الدعوى وإجراءاتها والحكم الصادر فيها, تاركين ذلك لمراجعه المتخصصة في التحكيم.
