يسعى الكتاب لتأسيس بلاغة الصورة السينمائية وغزوها للخطاب الشعري في العصر الحديث، ومقارباً علاقة الشعر الحديث بالسينما، وبواعث اعتماد الشعراء على التقنيات السينمائية في بناء القصيدة؛ كالسيناريو وطرائق توظيفه وآليات اشتغاله في القصائد الحديثة؛ و"المونتاج" وكيفية الإستفادة منه في تشكيل القصيدة الحديثة بشكل يعتمد على الصورة المتتابعة في خلق الحداث، كما يعرض لتوظيف المؤثرات البصرية والسمعية، وتوظيفها في بناء القصائد، ومدى استفادة الشعراء منها في تنفيذ البناء الفني للقصيدة، كما يدرس تقنية "التصوير"، وبناء المشاهد، والموازنة بين تقنيات التصوير السينمائي، وتقنيات التصوير البصري في القصائد الشعرية الحديثة، ومدى الإفادة من هذه التقنيات والأدوات.
