كان ابن عربي من أوائل من انفصل من المتصوفة عن تجربته الصوفية ليحللها، وينتقل بها من ميدان المواجيد والأحوال، إلى منطق العلم والنظريات. وقد كان يتحلى، إلى جانب تجربته الواسعة الغنية، بملكة التعبير عنها، إذ أنه يمتلك أسلوب التعبير الصحيح بالوسائل "الكلاسيكية" جميعها، فنراه يعبر عن فكرته الواحدة بفنون من القول، ولا نجد عند شيخنا الأكبر تلك الشكوى من حدود الحرف وعجزه وتقصيره، بل العكس يتحول الحرف ذاته مضمونه، وبالتالي لا تتعدد لديه المترادفات، بل كل مفرد هو غير الآخر. إذن انفردت الكلمة بمضمون وحيد، لأنها استطاعت عند ابن عربي أن تكون المراد منها، فلم يحتج إلى التعداد.
ولقد ظهرت مع ابن عربي في أفق التصوف لغة جديدة، هي ولا شك وليدة نمط فكري جديد، وتجربة إسلامية اكتملت خلال قرون ستة، كل ذلك يبرر ظهور "معجم صوفي" من جهة، ويحتم نسبته إلى الشيخ الأكبر من جهة ثانية.
فهو "قطب" اللغة الصوفية ومفرداتها، وكل "مفرد" يطالعنا في نصوص أرباب الصوفية: إما أنه يتجه إلى التكامل عنده، أوعالة عليه. وهذه الصفحات هي هذا المعجم الصوفي، وهي بين يدي القارئ، تصنعه الدكتورة سعاد الحكيم لينبض كل طرق فيها بالتقدير والمحبة لهذه الشخصية الفذة شخصية ابن عربي التي تألقت عبر نضج تجربتها الصوفية بأصالة عربية حقيقية، والتي استطاعت بصدق نبراتها أن تسد مسام الثغرة التي تفصلنا عن القرن السادس الهجري، وتعدنا بذاك التواصل الحقيقي مع تراثنا العربي وحضارتنا الشرقية.
