لقد نبعت الفكرة الرئيسية من طبيعة العصر الحالى الذى نعيش فيه والذى تسيطر عليه التكنولوجيا بصورة فاقت الخيال فى كافة المجالات والعلوم من هذه العلوم علم الاحصاء حتى رأينا أن هناك برامج جاهزة على الكمبيوتر لإجراء المعالجات الإحصائية المختلفة ( المتوسط الوسيط المنوال معامل الارتباط اختبارات ) اختبار فى تحليل الانحدار الاختبارات اللابارامترية الى أخره فى المعالجات الاحصائية . ومن ثم رأى المؤلف ثمة فائدة قد تعود على القارىء إذا تم تزويده بكيفية اجراء المعالجات الاحصائية يدويا وكذلك الكترونيا باستخدام إحدى البرامج الاحصائية حتى تتسع دائرة الفهم لدى القارىء أو الباحث أو المهتم بعلم الاحصاء . على ذلك تم عرض الأسلوب الاحصائى وكيفية حسابه يدويا من خلال أمثلة نفسية وتربوية ثم تم تزويد القارىء بالطريقة الالكترونية لإجراء نفس المعالجة الاحصائية عن طريق الكمبيوتر متمثلا فى إحدى البرامج الإحصائية وهو برنامج spss
