هذا الكتاب عبارة عن دراسة ادبية فى مسرح توفيق الحكيم وتسعى هذه الدراسة الى تشخيص ظاهرة جديدة فى مسار المسرح العربى الحديث بقدر ما تتلمس مفاصل التناص الاساسية من خلال تقصى واقع النص الشعبر وجذوره واصوله ونصوصه البكر ومكوناته الابداعية كما ورد فى مصادر الاصلية المخطوطه او المطبوعه وكيفيه انشاء نص مسرحى حديث على تخومه القديمة وفى اقامة علاقة جدلية بينهما تتخلى من خلالها خصوصية النص الجديد وتفرده وتمايزة بوصفه يضا قائما بذاته ينطوى على سماته الخاصة ومكوناته الذاتية فى بنية النوعى التركيبية المتعارف عليها بين المنتج والمتلقى .
