كانت هناك صعوبات في إنتاج هذا المعجم. فمصطلحا الاعتماد وضمان الجودة استخدامها شائع في القطاعين الصناعي والتجاري منذ عقود طويلة. لكن وضوح استخدام هذين المصطلحين في قطاع التعليم عامة، والتعليم العالي خاصة، لم يكن بنفس الدقة استخدامهما في القطاعين الصناعي والتجاري، ربما لحداثة إدخال الاعتماد وضمان الجودة في التعليم بصفة عامة.
ومن ثم، فهذا المعجم محاولة لتزويد المجتمع الأكاديميي بالمصطلحات الرئيسة والفرعية الشائعة الاستخدام في مجال الاعتماد وضمان الجودة في التعليم العالي، من خلال توضيح جوانب التشابه والاختلاف بني مصطلحات الاعتماد وضمان الجودة. وحرص المعجم على تقديم معلومات حول الرائق المختلفة التي تستخدم خلالها المصطلحات. كما حرص المعجم على توضيح المعزى مصطلحات الاعتماد وضمان الجودة في بعص الدول.
علاوة على ذلك، يمثل هذا المعجم ثمرة جهد كبير وشاق للوقوف على أحدث التطورات في مجال الاعتماد وضمان الجودة. والمعجم محاولة لتحقيق التكامل بين المعاني في سياقها الذي يجب أن تستخدم فيه.
