روائي كويتي من مواليد عام 1958 حصل على بكالوريوس الهندسة المدنية من جامعة الكويت عام 1982 بدأ الكتابة الأدبية في أثناء الدراسة الجامعية في منتصف السبعينات. أصدر ست مجموعات قصصية منها: “أبوعجاج طال عمرك”، “أغمض روحي عليك”، “مرآة الغبش”، “حكايا رملية”، “سرقات صغيرة”. وأصدر أربع روايات منها: “ظل الشمس”، “رائحة البحر”، “الثوب”، ترجمت بعض أعماله إلى الإنجليزية والفرنسية والألمانية رأس لجنة التحكيم لجائزة البوكر العربية فى دورتها الثالثة 2010.

حين وافقت على حضور أعمال ملتقى "شاهنده للإبداع الروائي الأول"، طلب مني تقديم ورقة/شهادة عن الروائي الكويتي إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل، ولقد ترددت في قبول هذه المهمة الصعبة، ولم أكن أدري حينها أنها ستجرني لكتاب.
وجدتني في حيرة عن طبيعة الدراسة الواجب كتابتها لتغطي أعمال وحياة الروائي إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل. رحت أفتش عن شكل مناسب لتلك الدراسة، شكل أستطيع من خلاله أن أقدم إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل إنساناً وكاتباً. ولأن عنصر الوقت كان يلاحقني، فقد اتفقت معه على لقاء قصير يمكنني من تقديم ورقتي للملتقى. لكن اللقاء طال وتشعب، وهاض في الكتابة والحياة، وصار لقاءات عدة توزعت بين الكويت وعجمان، وها أنا أضع بين يدي القارئ لقاءً خاصاً طعمته بشهادات ثقافية ونقدية عربية، كي يأخذ بعده الأوفى والأجمل، وليكون كتاباً في متناول القارئ العربي عن إسماعيل فهد إسماعيل، فوحدها الكتابة لها القدرة على جمع غريبين حول مائدة واحدة، ومد جسر وصل لمشروع صداقة قد تنشأ بينهما.
