عبد العزيز صالح المَقالِح (1937 -)، أديب وشاعر وناقد يمني، ولد عام 1937 في قرية المقالح في محافظة إب وهو رئيس المجمع العلمي اللغوي اليمني. ويُعد في مقدمة شعراء اليمن المعاصرين، وأحد أبرز الشعراء العرب في العصر الحديث.
درس على مجموعة من العلماء والأدباء في مدينة صنعاء، تخرج من دار المعلمين في صنعاء عام 1960، وواصل تحصيله العلمي حتى حصل على الشهادة الجامعية عام 1970، في عام 1973 حصل درجة الماجستير في اللغة العربية وآدابها من كلية الآداب جامعة عين شمس ثم درجة الدكتوراه عام 1977 من نفس الجامعة، وترقى إلى الأستاذية عام 1987. تميزت كتابته بشيء من الكلاسيكية، لكنها سرعان ما انفتحت على الحداثة. عرف عنه كتابته لقصيدة أن يحرمونا يا حبيب الغرام وتغنى بها الفنان اليمني أحمد فتحي.

هذه مجموعة من الدراسات والمتابعات النقدية عن الرواية والقصة القصيرة يرجع ظهور بعضها إلى ما قبل ربع قرن ويزيد؛ حيث أنها تشكل جهداً أولياً مهماً لرصد أبعاد هذا الفن الأدبي كما بدأ يتكون ويتبلور في كتابات أبناء هذه البلاد التي دخلت إلى حقول الثقافة والإبداع متأخرة بعشرات السنين.
وما تجدر الإشارة إليه - أن جزءاً كبيراً من هذه الدراسات ظهرت إلى حيز الوجود قبل أن يبدأ الإهتمام المحلي والعربي المحدود بالإبداع القصصي والروائي.
